Molly Ivins, too.

Columnist and wit Molly Ivins has passed away after a valiant battle with breast cancer.

Today is also the one-year anniversary of my Dad's death. I'm really beginning to hate January 31st.

Damn you, cancer.

I was going to post something about Molly but you beat me to it. She has been someone that I have looked up to and defintely looked forward to reading. Your dad has good company today. Doesn't help with this day though. You are in my thoughts.

Just the other day I confused her with Ann Richards, who passed away earlier. Scary omen? Perhaps I knew?
At any rate, what awful news. She will be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear about Molly Ivins. She fought the battle for a long, long time. And, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you recollect on your Dad's one year anniversary.

The first year is the hardest. The second isn't much better. By year 3, you sort of get used to the idea, and by year 4 you have learned to live (maybe even a little gracefully, but never quite painlessly) with the wound in your heart.

Molly Ivins was one of my idols.

And I hope you're right, CTG.

I had a link to her columns on my blog. It was refreshing to read someone in the media who wasn't falling all over themselves to kiss W's rear end.
