Yes, darn it, now turn that phone off!

Train Horns

I HATE that sound! Our students like to use it as a cell phone ringtone. The last time one went off in my classroom, I nearly rocketed through the ceiling tiles.

I heard it, too, and here I thought I was losing my hearing!

The kids always act so shocked, but here's a secret to those who can't hear it: just watch the rest of the kids in class jump, and you know that someone is getting a call on their cell.

I can't hear it and I pride myself in my good hearing. I could only hear it if the volume was cranked up.

Strange, because I can hear the leaf miners in my boxwoods chewing away! That sounds like a distant pan of bacon cooking and yes, I'm the crazy lady going around, listening to her bushes. Credit to younger ears, though. My 13 year old is actually the one who pointed out that the landscaping was "sizzling."

When I played the sound, all 3 of my kids howled like dogs. My 10 year old claimed her ears were still ringing long after I'd played it. I think I'll bookmark it and use it as a deterrent when they start hovering around me while I'm at my computer.

Bev, I like how you think!

Thanks for a great idea as I sit here trying to detach my offspring from my side while I try to work on a paper that I lost.
